My Top 5 Most EPIC Destinations of 2015

365 days. A 1 whole entire year has flown by, yet, again. So many adventures, so many milestones reached, so many changes, so many lessons, and so many travels in 365 days. BUT. There’s still SO much more adventures, milestones, lessons and travels that I still have to experience and learn in the future. Am I right? Today, I can’t help but be thankful of how blessed I am to be able to experience so many adventures and learn so many lessons from this wonderful place we call, “Earth”.

Anyways, inspired by travel bloggers around the world with their 2015 recap, I thought I should do my own 2015 recap as well. Now, since I had just started blogging about my adventures and travels why not make my TOP 5 MOST EPIC destinations I’ve been to this year? Funny enough though, at first I decided to write the Top 15, but as I write this my husband has challenged me to only pick 5. While I was up for that challenge, I realized how hard it is to come up with the ones that really made it on this list. Soo with that being said, do know that the 5 places I have on this list really means that they stole my heart and captured my heart with their beauty. Meaning, these places are those kind of places that once I have arrived I already dreamed of when I’m coming back. Places that I see myself coming back to again and again. Places that took my breath away. So, shall we start?

TOP 5:

Sequoia National Park

Two words for you: General. Sherman. Who wouldn’t be amazed by this tree? Only the largest tree on earth that you will only see in California. AndI got to see it. Now that’s pretty awesome, isn’t it? There’s so much to see here and my favorite one is when I saw the most giant and tallest sequoia trees I’ve seen in my entire life. Now, aside from those tallest and largest sequoias trees, I gotta say that the winter wonderland that happened just right before we left was also one of the highlights of this trip (read here).

TOP 4:

Virgin Island, Bohol

I know I have bragged about how beautiful Boracay is and why I really love that island (read here). But what I haven’t really told you about is this other island in the Philippines that I fell in love with.

Welcome to Virgin Island.

Virgin Island is a sandbar in Bohol that’s only visible during the low tide. Luckily enough for us, we got there at the right time. It was sunny and the island couldn’t look any more perfect. It was immaculate, pristine and…and, we walked in the middle of the ocean. How often can you do that? Guys? Seriously…we were in the middle of the ocean and the water was just ankle deep. That was EPIC.

TOP 3:

Taft Point, Yosemite

Yosemite is the most beautiful place I’ve seen in California (read here). But to see it on top of Taft Point? It was even more epic. I have to say that of all my hikes this year, the view up at Taft Point is the most breathtaking view I’ve seen this year. In addition to that, the hike there was an easy-peezy-hike (read the guide here). The photos I took will never do justice of how breathtaking the view up in Taft Point. But if you type in Taft Point right now on Instagram and Pinterest I’m sure you will be sold to go. AND. if the photos there still doesn’t work on you, I tell you to take a trip there right now and just see it for yourself.

TOP 2:

Tokyo, Japan

As I come close to the Top 1 it’s really getting harder and harder to choose. (insert crying emoji here). Really, this destination had so many competitors. But the adventures in Japan and the uniqueness of my adventures here really stood out on all of the other competitors. Here is why Japan is on my top 2. I was only in Tokyo for a short layover and boy, did I fall in love with this City that quick. 6 hours. 6 hours is what only took for me to fall for this City. The food, the people, the cleanliness, the city, the list could go on. I am a city girl and a foodie at heart so falling for this City was that easy. The ramen? Fantastic. (read the ramen I had in Tokyo Station here) Sushi? YAS!!! I’m all about that Japanese food. Such a pity though that I was only here for a short period of time. But this is why Japan made it on top 2: It stole a piece of my heart in just short amount of time. So imagine, if I was there for a long time? This place would’ve made it to Top 1.

Top 1:

My Home

Surprise? Cliche? Maybe. Maybe Not. But YES, it is my top 1 most epic destination. Sure, my house doesn’t have the most epic view of the city or nature. But my house is home. It’s home to a bunch of comforts – warm duvet, soft bed, soft pillow, warm shower, Netflix, microwave, internet, et cetera, etcetera.  But aside from all the comfort, as long as I am cuddled up in a warm duvet with my hubby and my pup? That’s all the prerequisites I need for this place to be the Number 1 MOST EPIC DESTINATION. For me, my house is the ONLY place I’d ALWAYS rather be. Like what they always say: There’s NO place like home.

So there you have it. My Top 5 most EPIC destinations of 2015. This was really challenging and really fun to write. To be honest though, I still think that all the places I’ve been to, whether this year or the past years, they are all pretty EPIC. But, sometimes, there’s just some places that really stands out.

Anyways, CHEERS to all the adventures, travels, fun, failures, lessons, and everything in between that happened this year.

Have a Happy and Prosperous New Year! Good luck and safe travels for 2016!

  1. It sounds like you had an amazing year! As much as I love to travel, home really is where the heart is. My husband and I currently live right outside of Tokyo and it is a great city. I’m dying to get to the Philippines – I’ve heard that it’s absolutely beautiful.

    Happy New Year,

  2. I’ve been to Yosemite this past year but never been to Taft point. I love Tokyo too. I was there years ago and was only there for 3 days — not enough time. Will definitely come back!

    1. I hope you’ll get a chance to visit Yosemite again and hike Taft Point. It’s such an easy hike with very rewarding view! And girl, atleast you got to stay in Tokyo for 3 days! I was only there for few hours

    1. Wow! that sounds fun!!! Ive been dying to go to Cancun. I heard its really fun there. Hoping to go there for my husband and I’s first year anniversary!
